Château Montaiguillon, Montagne-St-Emilion 2021

The Rigou family have been proud custodians of Château Montaiguillon since 1959, and are now into their fourth generation of family ownership with Mathieu taking the reins in 2016. Motivated as ever for the quest for quality today as they were 70 years ago, Château Montaiguillon are without doubt one of our favourite St-Emilion producers. Their 2021 is made from a blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were hand-harvested, hand-sorted, and aged in French oak for 12 months prior to release. Bold, brooding and powerful; it has a nose of blackberry, black cherry, plum and tobacco. The palate is richly structured, with further black fruit flavours along with a subtle savoury-earrthiness. A wine which will continue to develop over the next ten years.
